Hi and welcome to my website.
It’s based on ideas I originally wrote in 2001, and have slowly expanded upon in my spare time since. The main aim of the website is to look at the stories in the Bible as mythology, and compare them to other myths from the ancient Mediterranean and Near East. I have a particular interest in the importance of the world axis and celestial pole in many ancient religions and mythology.
You’ll find links to all the pages on this website on the right hand side of the screen. I hope whoever reads what I’ve written finds the ideas both interesting and informative.
I’ve split my pages into four main sections; the first pages look at some of the basic beliefs that underpin ancient religion and cosmology; next we’ll interpret key stories in the Old Testament by comparing them to contemporaneous mythology from the Mediterranean and Near East; the third section looks at Christianity as a form of Hellenised Judaism; finally we’ll look at key motifs in the New Testament, and show how they were constructed from lines from Jewish scripture, as well as looking at similarities to other religious and philosophical beliefs of the time.
Wherever possible I’ll try to let the ancient sources do the talking, as that seems the most objective way to approach the subject.
Judaism and Christianity aren’t unique entities, and neither religion developed in a vacuum. Both faiths were influenced by the other belief systems that surrounded them.
The website’s unfortunately rather basic as I have very little website literacy. That said, I hope you find the content of interest. Just remember, the content’s the important thing!

It’s funny to find out just how many different sites the internet has on this subject. 🙂
